EVENT #2 / SUN, MAY 7TH - MOTHER'S DAY CARD MAKING EXTRAVAGANZA! / 1PM - 4 PM / (RSVP)
- Mother's Day is May 14th. Many of us will celebrate with our moms, but many mothers in our city are forgotten. The Sun. before (7th) we'll make personalized cards / gifts for the mothers in the Edgewater nursing home on 4th Street. There'll be food ($3 donation) and live music. The cards will be given the following Sun. (14th). We had a fantastic time last year. Their smiles were priceless!

* EVENT: "BEACH CLEAN-UP / BBQ POTLUCK / SOUNDWALK Day"
* 411: Come join us for any one of 3 events! First, we're doing the 30 minute beach clean-up in Belmont Shores in the morning. In the afternoon, stop by for a BBQ potluck on the front lawn Lorraine's new apartment behind 2nd Str. At night, we'll be going to the East Village Arts District to check out the Soundwalk tour. All are welcome.
* BEACH CLEAN-UP / 10am - 10:30am - Corner of Ocean Blvd. and Granada in Belmont Shore.
* BBQ POTLUCK / 1PM - 4PM - Location TBA. (It'll be on a picnic lawn of an apartment area around the 2nd Str. area. Bring your favorite side dish.)
* SOUNDWALK TOUR / 7PM - 9PM - Annual event throughout the East Village Arts District. Definitely different. Meet at 7PM at the front of Creative Design Lab (441 E. 1st Str. At the corner of 1st and Linden Ave. Look for the red door next to The Village Grind Coffee Shop) .

* THE EVENT: BEACH CLEAN-UP & KAYAKING. Come join us for a 30 minute beach clean-up on the beach of Belmont Shore. Afterwards, we'll walk over to "Kayaks on the Water" n' rent kayaks ($7 per hour) to tour Naples. There's a Jamba Juice half way we can kayak up to for a breather.
* DATE: SAT, JULY 16th
* TIME: 10AM-10:30AM (Beach Clean-Up), 11:30AM - 1:30PM (Kayaking)
* 3 POTENTIAL MEETUPS POINTS (Just make one):
- 1st MEETUP (9:30AM) at The Creative Design Lab. Departure to Beach Clean-Up is at 9:45AM.
- 2nd MEETUP (10AM - 10:30AM) is at the Beach Clean-Up (the corner of Ocean and Granada Ave) Look for banner in parking lot.
- 3rd MEETUP (11:30AM-1:30PM) is at "Kayaks on the Water". Los Alamitos Bay at corner of Bayshore and Ocean Blvd. 5411 Ocean Blvd. (562-434-0999)

THE EVENT: Carne Asada / BBQ & service project for children with cancer at the Miller's Children's Hospital in Long Beach.
411: Join us for an open lunch and volunteer project on the roof of the Creative Design Lab. We'll also be making art projects to give as gifts to children with cancer at the Miller's Children's Hospital in Long Beach. Live music. Cruise by and meet new people from the LBC!

WELCOME TO NEW IN TOWN! Whether you're new to the LBC or would just like to meet some new people through volunteering we hope you can cruise on by! DATE: WEDS, MAY 4th / 7PM - 9PM LOCATION: The Creative Designs Lab (441 E. 1st Str. - on the corner of 1st and Linden. Look for red door. Next to The Village Grind coffee shop) WHAT WE'RE GOING TO BE DOING AT THE MAY 4th GATHERING: The night will be centered around a volunteer opportunity to help those in need in our city. While many of us celebrate with our Mother's Day on May 8th, many mothers in our city are forgotten. We'll use part of the night to make cards / gifts for the 53 mothers in the Edgewater nursing center off 4th str...Come stop by! (gifts will be given out on the 8th, but you can just come on the 4th) We need you to bring the following on the 4th: 1.) Any stuffed animals (wrapped or unwrapped)
2.) Materials (pens, glue, scissors, construction paper, ribbons, etc)
3.) $3 (optional) for flowers for the 8th. * FOOD & MUSIC: Bring some kind of snack food on the 27th. We are working on getting some live informal acoustic music 9or at least some cool CD music...). * MORE VOLUNTEER OPS: We'll also have some info flyers for other Long Beach volunteer projects ranging from artwork to the environment to a bookclub to a bible study...
