Calling all beer lovers to Pike Pub and Brewery 12/16, Wednesday, at 6:15 pm. **Update 12/15 - If anyone arrives before 6:15 or before I do, please grab a table and leave a msg with the host / hostess at the front to direct all meetup folks to where you are. I shall do the same if I am there first. This Seattle institution is a beer lover's paradise. The food is ok (in my opinion), but they do have a strong selection of beers, the tandem and kilt lifter truly stand out. Whether or not they're my favorite brewery in the area, there's no denying that they are an important cornerstone in the Seattle craft beer scene, and make a lot of high quality, craft brew. But irrespective of whether you are beer lover or not, seek this place out. It really is a love letter to the (Seattle) beer industry. Happy hour is from 4-6pm, but I won't be able to make it before 6:15pm. But if you can then do make it for the happy hour. Parking:
Parking is a bit hard to find on the street. But parking is available at the Chase Center Garage at 1st and Union. For guests dining in, parking at chase is validated by the pub after 5pm. Message from the brewery: Charles & Rose Ann Finkel are pioneers in making & marketing craft beers. They opened Pike in 1989 concentrating on beers of exceptional quality. Pike's beers are distributed, on draft & in bottle, in pubs, restaurants & stores in the NW. The Pike Pub is the showcase for the brewing company. Each ale - Naughty Nellie, Pike Pale, IPA, Kilt Lifter, Tandem, Monk's Uncle, & XXXXX Stout, is served properly in a working brewery. Local, seasonal, delicious pub fare includes fresh mussels & clams, hand crafted bratwurst w/Chef Gary's WA State apple sauerkraut, artisan cheese, smoked salmon, local wines, beer to go, & gifts. Pike received the 2006 Where Magazine, "Best local bar and pub". Displayed on 5 levels is a museum telling the story of beer from its discovery; to the pleasure of people who hunted & gathered for a living; to the modern micro brew mania that started right hear in Seattle.

Wanna know what Seattle was really like years ago? Then join us on the Underworld tour, Friday, December 4th @ 7:15 pm. *UPDATE* - Please walk to the coffee shop inside the tour place. I will be sitting there. Or whoever arrives first, please grab few seats in the coffee shop. Join us in an adult-oriented guided tour of Seattle's underground Underworld replete with the tales of graft, opium, sex, debauchery and Red Light district shenanigans that made Seattle what it is today. Admission includes a cocktail and stories you can tell your grandch— well, maybe not until they're older. Like in college. I did the Seattle underground tour and it was a lot of fun. I am hoping the Underworld tour , which is an adult oriented tour is a lot of fun too. The tour starts at 8pm, but we need to collect as a group by 7:30 pm. You can purchase tickets online or at the entrance (they accept only cash at the entrance), but as these tours are very popular, it is better to purchase tickets in advance. I will be counting yes RSVPs as people who have purchased their tickets by Thursday midnight. Please bear in mind that this meetup will be limited to only 15 people so rsvp accordingly. Note:
- You have to purchase tickets 24hrs in advance if purchasing tickets online. You can't buy tickets for same day tour online. - There is no coat check, but you will need it with you as it is a little cold underground. - You can bring cameras to take pictures Ladies - please note
- No high heels. Work heels (1-2 inches) are fine, as long as you are comfortable walking. Let's savor the last days of summer the same way we began it. We'll work up an appetite by kayaking before dinner at the Agua Verde Paddle Club! We'll meet at 6:00 at the paddle club (Kayak Rentals are just below the cafe, thru the park next to the water). At 6:15 we'll take a 1 hour unguided kayaking trip on lake union (singles $15.00 per hour and doubles $18.00 per hour) and be drinking margaritas by 7:30. For those of you new in town *ahem* Bumbershoot is the annual Music and Arts festival held under the Space Needle at the Seattle Center. This year its 37th year, and the largest event to be held in Seattle since the World's Fair in '62 (the reason we have the Seattle Center and Space Needle to begin with!). There's a LOT to do and see, so I expect folks are going to want to break off into smaller groups, or individually, however, I figured I'd post an event on our calendar for those of you who don't know a lot of folks yet (I didn't know ANYONE last year and went alone - fun, but it's always better with buddies :) .
