Hello everyone - Clarendon Day Festival is on Sept. 26 and is always a fun event. That is if you like live bands and drinking in the streets! Here is a link to the event site Clarendon Day Festival I suggest we meet around 12:30ish at the Clarendon metro stop. I'll be the one drinking a bloody mary out of a red travel cup. It's a long walk from the courthouse area afterall.........

See you on Saturday.

Hey folks - I know it's last minute, but I wanted to let you know there is another meet-up happening nearby on Saturday night, 8/29. If you feel like coming out - feel free to join the group.

The name of the other group is -"Northern VA Guys Night Out Meetup" it's a co-ed group and I have checked them out so don't be swayed by the kind-of cheesy name ... if you want more info on that group do a search by their name (sorry...I don't know how to forward the group).

Have a great weekend and ... send us a shout out if any of you are alive out there and want to plan something.

Dean and I were thinking we could actually venture beyond a bar and do some exercise ...(i.e. hike, etc.) like we used to do in Cali ... or we could compromise and settle on a good sports bar and cheer for each other's teams.

Hope to hear from you.

Sorry for the late notice but if anyone would like to meet up to watch the 49ers preseason game against the Broncos tonight at 8ish. The game does not actually start until 10pm love the West Coast time. Velocity 5 has a nice outside bar with flatscreen TV as well as good drink specials.

Following Norah's successful Happy Hour Event last Thursday, let's try to keep the meetings going.

Let's try the Eleventh St. Lounge this time. I have never been there but I have heard good things. Also I don't know about anyone else that attended the Thursday event but I was pretty hungover on Friday, luckily I had the day off. For this reason I planning this event on a Friday.

If this does not work for the majority of people let me know and we can change it to Thursday the 4th.

Hope to see the crew from last week as well as new people this time. Since this is an indoor bar the weather should not be a problem.

See you Friday,
Dean

Hey Cali crew -
It's time to come out of hibernation and celebrate now that the weather is getting warm. So, if necessary, please go ahead and program your DVR now and plan to join us.

Top 10+ Reasons to Attend

* You want to brag to someone who actually cares (and can relate) to all the frequent flyer miles you have racked up in trips back to Cali

* You want to show off your new DC wardrobe (no cleavage, open toe shoes only after Memorial Day, you have a new blue/black suit – but hey, you own a suit now, right?)

* Because you can make it to the Ballroom in less than an hour’s time (in light traffic) or have the option to take public transportation or a cab for less than $50

* To talk sports with real fans (any Angels fans out there?)

* You can pay your personal property tax on your vehicle …on the way

* To talk about the slow and ineffective drivers here (at least we can drive, know how to multi-task and won't get brain cancer from our cell phone)

* You survived your first real winter and want to show off your new umbrella and winter coat from Burlington Coat Factory

* You want to start recruiting for the new West to East Support Group you are forming

* Because you have some 'inside' information on why Prop 8 was defeated???

* You need directions to the beach (…wait a minute …you call that a beach??)

* You need some decent produce and are desperately seeking tips from the locals on the best farmer's market

* Because you secretly want to find out what's going on with Paris Hilton's lost dog

?

No, but seriously folks, despite my list, I’m actually a cup half full kind of gal and you have to know that … DC is REALLY a great place to live…you just have to find your groove, group, job, etc.—but don’t become a workaholic (that can happen here).

So, don’t be shy… come on out…even if it’s for a quick one and feel free to bring a friend, loved one, colleague, etc… the more the merrier.

Hope to see you there and feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Norah

Over a 100,000 canned foods are gathered within the community and brought together at the Patriot Center of Fairfax, VA to be placed in food baskets for Thanksgiving. These food baskets go to less fortunate families throughout the DC area on the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Volunteers are needed as follows: Dare 2 Share: Nov. 7-8th, 9am to 3pm Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA (Transportation and lunch can be provided) Help consolidate the canned food donations and get ready for delivery to the boys and girl's club of NE Washington, DC. Food 4 Families: Nov. 24-25th Boys and Girls Club, Benning Rd. NE, DC Distributing Food Baskets to registered families of the DC area. Both of these activities are heart warming and I guarantee an enjoyable service experience.

This group is planning to volunteer on Saturday November 8th from 9am to 2pm. Please RSVP early so that we can get a good head count for those who would like to attend. I plan on coordinating with The Salvation Army to ensure we are put to good use where we are needed. More details will be posted as we get closer to November 8th. I hope to see you there!
